Step 1 :

You can print the basic construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself by following these steps…

1) Draw a rectangle that will define the proportions and boundaries of the chosen design.

2) From the center of the rectangle, draw a vertical line and a horizontal line dividing the shape equally.

3) Draw another horizontal line dividing the top half of the rectangle equally. Similarly, draw a horizontal line dividing the bottom half of the rectangle equally.

4) Draw a vertical line dividing the left half of the rectangle equally. Similarly, draw a vertical line dividing the right half of the rectangle equally.

Step 2 :

Mark the width and height of the image. Draw two ovals for the head and body of the flamingo. Add a line that will act as the center of the beak.

Step 3 :

Using lines as a guide, draw the neck. Define the legs of the flamingo.

Step 4 :

Use a small circle to define the location of the eye. Add lines for the wing and illustrate the beak.

Step 5 :

Finish with the shape of the wing and legs.

Step 6 :

Draw lines for the rows of feathers as well as the flamingo’s toes. Add details to the head.

Step 7 :

Draw additional lines to illustrate the shape of the toes, ankle joints, and ribs. Draw the outline of the tail.

Step 8 :

Work on the silhouette of the flamingo with attention to detail. Draw the feathers.

Step 9 :

Draw the outline, trying to vary the thickness of the line and the darkness of the line. Draw more detail. Outline the ground. Erase all the lines that were used as guides.
